bonding: stop the device in bond_setup_by_slave()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bonding: stop the device in bond_setup_by_slave() Commit 9eed321cde22 ("net: lapbether: only support ethernet devices") has been able to keep syzbot away from net/lapb, until today. In the following splat [1], the issue is that a lapbether device has been created on a bonding device without members. Then adding a non ARPHRD_ETHER member forced the bonding master to change its type. The fix is to make sure we call dev_close() in bond_setup_by_slave() so that the potential linked lapbether devices (or any other devices having assumptions on the physical device) are removed.

s390/dasd: protect device queue against concurrent access

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/dasd: protect device queue against concurrent access In dasd_profile_start() the amount of requests on the device queue are counted. The access to the device queue is unprotected against concurrent access. With a lot of parallel I/O, especially with alias devices enabled, the device queue can change while dasd_profile_start() is accessing the queue. In the worst case this leads to a kernel panic due to incorrect pointer accesses. Fix this by taking the device lock before accessing the queue and counting the requests. Additionally the check for a valid profile data poi

    media: gspca: cpia1: shift-out-of-bounds in set_flicker

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: gspca: cpia1: shift-out-of-bounds in set_flicker Syzkaller reported the following issue: UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in drivers/media/usb/gspca/cpia1.c:1031:27 shift exponent 245 is too large for 32-bit type 'int' When the value of the variable "sd->params.exposure.gain" exceeds the number of bits in an integer, a shift-out-of-bounds error is reported. It is triggered because the variable "currentexp" cannot be left-shifted by more than the number of bits in an integer. In order to avoid invalid range during left-shift, the conditional expression is added.

    gfs2: Fix slab-use-after-free in gfs2_qd_dealloc

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: Fix slab-use-after-free in gfs2_qd_dealloc In gfs2_put_super(), whether withdrawn or not, the quota should be cleaned up by gfs2_quota_cleanup(). Otherwise, struct gfs2_sbd will be freed before gfs2_qd_dealloc (rcu callback) has run for all gfs2_quota_data objects, resulting in use-after-free. Also, gfs2_destroy_threads() and gfs2_quota_cleanup() is already called by gfs2_make_fs_ro(), so in gfs2_put_super(), after calling gfs2_make_fs_ro(), there is no need to call them again.

media: imon: fix access to invalid resource for the second interface

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: imon: fix access to invalid resource for the second interface imon driver probes two USB interfaces, and at the probe of the second interface, the driver assumes blindly that the first interface got bound with the same imon driver. It's usually true, but it's still possible that the first interface is bound with another driver via a malformed descriptor. Then it may lead to a memory corruption, as spotted by syzkaller; imon driver accesses the data from drvdata as struct imon_context object although it's a completely different one that was assigned by another drive

arm64: Restrict CPU_BIG_ENDIAN to GNU as or LLVM IAS 15.x or newer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: Restrict CPU_BIG_ENDIAN to GNU as or LLVM IAS 15.x or newer Prior to LLVM 15.0.0, LLVM's integrated assembler would incorrectly byte-swap NOP when compiling for big-endian, and the resulting series of bytes happened to match the encoding of FNMADD S21, S30, S0, S0. This went unnoticed until commit: 34f66c4c4d5518c1 ("arm64: Use a positive cpucap for FP/SIMD") Prior to that commit, the kernel would always enable the use of FPSIMD early in boot when __cpu_setup() initialized CPACR_EL1, and so usage of FNMADD within the kernel was not detected, but could result in

spi: Fix null dereference on suspend

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: Fix null dereference on suspend A race condition exists where a synchronous (noqueue) transfer can be active during a system suspend. This can cause a null pointer dereference exception to occur when the system resumes. Example order of events leading to the exception: 1. spi_sync() calls __spi_transfer_message_noqueue() which sets ctlr->cur_msg 2. Spi transfer begins via spi_transfer_one_message() 3. System is suspended interrupting the transfer context 4. System is resumed 6. spi_controller_resume() calls spi_start_queue() which resets cur_msg to NULL 7. Spi t

Add a check to avoid npd. The failure status of drm_cvt_mode() on the other path is checked too.

ceph: blocklist the kclient when receiving corrupted snap trace

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ceph: blocklist the kclient when receiving corrupted snap trace When received corrupted snap trace we don't know what exactly has happened in MDS side. And we shouldn't continue IOs and metadatas access to MDS, which may corrupt or get incorrect contents. This patch will just block all the further IO/MDS requests immediately and then evict the kclient itself. The reason why we still need to evict the kclient just after blocking all the further IOs is that the MDS could revoke the caps faster.

To fix these leaks, make sdio_func_present() only control whether device_del() needs to be called or not, then always call of_node_put() and put_device(). nilfs2: fix underflow in second superblock position calculations

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix underflow in second superblock position calculations Macro NILFS_SB2_OFFSET_BYTES, which computes the position of the second superblock, underflows when the argument device size is less than 4096 bytes. Therefore, when using this macro, it is necessary to check in advance that the device size is not less than a lower limit, or at least that underflow does not occur. The current nilfs2 implementation lacks this check, causing out-of-bound block access when mounting devices smaller than 4096 bytes: I/O error, dev loop0, sector 36028797018963960 op 0x0:(READ) f

    net/usb: kalmia: Don't pass act_len in usb_bulk_msg error path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/usb: kalmia: Don't pass act_len in usb_bulk_msg error path syzbot reported that act_len in kalmia_send_init_packet() is uninitialized when passing it to the first usb_bulk_msg error path. Jiri Pirko noted that it's pointless to pass it in the error path, and that the value that would be printed in the second error path would be the value of act_len from the first call to usb_bulk_msg.[1] With this in mind, let's just not pass act_len to the usb_bulk_msg error paths. 1: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/Y9pY61y1nwTuzMOa@nanopsycho/

    phy: mdio: fix memory leak

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: phy: mdio: fix memory leak Syzbot reported memory leak in MDIO bus interface, the problem was in wrong state logic. MDIOBUS_ALLOCATED indicates 2 states: 1. Bus is only allocated 2. Bus allocated and __mdiobus_register() fails, but device_register() was called In case of device_register() has been called we should call put_device() to correctly free the memory allocated for this device, but mdiobus_free() calls just kfree(dev) in case of MDIOBUS_ALLOCATED state To avoid this behaviour we need to set bus->state to MDIOBUS_UNREGISTERED _before_ calling device_registe
