hfsplus: Verify inode mode when loading from disk

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hfsplus: Verify inode mode when loading from disk syzbot is reporting that S_IFMT bits of inode->i_mode can become bogus when the S_IFMT bits of the 16bits "mode" field loaded from disk are corrupted. According to [1], the permissions field was treated as reserved in Mac OS 8 and 9. According to [2], the reserved field was explicitly initialized with 0, and that field must remain 0 as long as reserved. Therefore, when the "mode" field is not 0 (i.e. no longer reserved), the file must be S_IFDIR if dir == 1, and the file must be one of S_IFREG/S_IFLNK/S_IFCHR/ S_IFBLK/S_IFI

wifi: rtl818x: Fix potential memory leaks in rtl8180_init_rx_ring()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: rtl818x: Fix potential memory leaks in rtl8180_init_rx_ring() In rtl8180_init_rx_ring(), memory is allocated for skb packets and DMA allocations in a loop. When an allocation fails, the previously successful allocations are not freed on exit. Fix that by jumping to err_free_rings label on error, which calls rtl8180_free_rx_ring() to free the allocations. Remove the free of rx_ring in rtl8180_init_rx_ring() error path, and set the freed priv->rx_buf entry to null, to avoid double free.

drm/vgem-fence: Fix potential deadlock on release

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/vgem-fence: Fix potential deadlock on release A timer that expires a vgem fence automatically in 10 seconds is now released with timer_delete_sync() from fence->ops.release() called on last dma_fence_put(). In some scenarios, it can run in IRQ context, which is not safe unless TIMER_IRQSAFE is used. One potentially risky scenario was demonstrated in Intel DRM CI trybot, BAT run on machine bat-adlp-6, while working on new IGT subtests syncobj_timeline@stress-* as user space replacements of some problematic test cases of a dma-fence-chain selftest [1]. misc: pci_endpoint_test: Free IRQs before removing the device

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: misc: pci_endpoint_test: Free IRQs before removing the device In pci_endpoint_test_remove(), freeing the IRQs after removing the device creates a small race window for IRQs to be received with the test device memory already released, causing the IRQ handler to access invalid memory, resulting in an oops. Free the device IRQs before removing the device to avoid this issue.

dm: fix a race condition in retrieve_deps

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm: fix a race condition in retrieve_deps There's a race condition in the multipath target when retrieve_deps races with multipath_message calling dm_get_device and dm_put_device. retrieve_deps walks the list of open devices without holding any lock but multipath may add or remove devices to the list while it is running. The end result may be memory corruption or use-after-free memory access. See this description of a UAF with multipath_message(): https://listman.redhat.com/archives/dm-devel/2022-October/052373.html Fix this bug by introducing a new rw semaphore "devices_

    arm64: set __exception_irq_entry with __irq_entry as a default

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: set __exception_irq_entry with __irq_entry as a default filter_irq_stacks() is supposed to cut entries which are related irq entries from its call stack. And in_irqentry_text() which is called by filter_irq_stacks() uses __irqentry_text_start/end symbol to find irq entries in callstack. But it doesn't work correctly as without "CONFIG_FUNCTION_GRAPH_TRACER", arm64 kernel doesn't include gic_handle_irq which is entry point of arm64 irq between __irqentry_text_start and __irqentry_text_end as we discussed in below link. https://lore.kernel.org/all/CACT4Y+aReMGLYua2rCL

Pointer could be NULL in case allocation fails. Check pointer validity. Identified with coccinelle (kmerr.cocci script). dm flakey: don't corrupt the zero page

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm flakey: don't corrupt the zero page When we need to zero some range on a block device, the function __blkdev_issue_zero_pages submits a write bio with the bio vector pointing to the zero page. If we use dm-flakey with corrupt bio writes option, it will corrupt the content of the zero page which results in crashes of various userspace programs. Glibc assumes that memory returned by mmap is zeroed and it uses it for calloc implementation; if the newly mapped memory is not zeroed, calloc will return non-zeroed memory. Fix this bug by testing if the page is equal to ZERO_PA

    media: af9005: Fix null-ptr-deref in af9005_i2c_xfer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: af9005: Fix null-ptr-deref in af9005_i2c_xfer In af9005_i2c_xfer, msg is controlled by user. When msg[i].buf is null and msg[i].len is zero, former checks on msg[i].buf would be passed. Malicious data finally reach af9005_i2c_xfer. If accessing msg[i].buf[0] without sanity check, null ptr deref would happen. We add check on msg[i].len to prevent crash. ext4: fix deadlock when converting an inline directory in nojournal mode

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: fix deadlock when converting an inline directory in nojournal mode In no journal mode, ext4_finish_convert_inline_dir() can self-deadlock by calling ext4_handle_dirty_dirblock() when it already has taken the directory lock. There is a similar self-deadlock in ext4_incvert_inline_data_nolock() for data files which we'll fix at the same time. A simple reproducer demonstrating the problem: mke2fs -Fq -t ext2 -O inline_data -b 4k /dev/vdc 64 mount -t ext4 -o dirsync /dev/vdc /vdc cd /vdc mkdir file0 cd file0 touch file0 touch file1 attr

ptp_qoriq: fix memory leak in probe()

Fix this by revising the parameter from 'ptp_qoriq->base' to 'base'. This is only a bug if ptp_qoriq_init() returns on the first -ENODEV error path. For other error paths ptp_qoriq->base and base are the same. And this change makes the code more readable.

For example, the obtained SKB may have been badly constructed with pkt_len = 8. In this case, the SKB can only contain a valid htc_frame_hdr but after being processed in ath9k_htc_rx_msg() and passed to ath9k_wmi_ctrl_rx() endpoint RX handler, it is expected to have a WMI command header which should be located inside its da

The data role swap causes the device to unregister all alt modes, however the usb hub will still send Attention messages even after failing to reregister the Alt Mode. type_altmode_attention currently does not verify whether or not a device's altmode partner exists, which results in a NULL pointer error when dereferencing the typec_altmode and typec_altmode_ops belonging to t
