tracing: Free buffers when a used dynamic event is removed

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Free buffers when a used dynamic event is removed After 65536 dynamic events have been added and removed, the "type" field of the event then uses the first type number that is available (not currently used by other events). A type number is the identifier of the binary blobs in the tracing ring buffer (known as events) to map them to logic that can parse the binary blob. The issue is that if a dynamic event (like a kprobe event) is traced and is in the ring buffer, and then that event is removed (because it is dynamic, which means it can be created and destroyed),

ASoC: ops: Fix bounds check for _sx controls

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: ops: Fix bounds check for _sx controls For _sx controls the semantics of the max field is not the usual one, max is the number of steps rather than the maximum value. This means that our check in snd_soc_put_volsw_sx() needs to just check against the maximum value.

riscv: Sync efi page table's kernel mappings before switching

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: riscv: Sync efi page table's kernel mappings before switching The EFI page table is initially created as a copy of the kernel page table. With VMAP_STACK enabled, kernel stacks are allocated in the vmalloc area: if the stack is allocated in a new PGD (one that was not present at the moment of the efi page table creation or not synced in a previous vmalloc fault), the kernel will take a trap when switching to the efi page table when the vmalloc kernel stack is accessed, resulting in a kernel panic. Fix that by updating the efi kernel mappings before switching to the efi pag

nvme: fix SRCU protection of nvme_ns_head list

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme: fix SRCU protection of nvme_ns_head list Walking the nvme_ns_head siblings list is protected by the head's srcu in nvme_ns_head_submit_bio() but not nvme_mpath_revalidate_paths(). Removing namespaces from the list also fails to synchronize the srcu. Concurrent scan work can therefore cause use-after-frees. Hold the head's srcu lock in nvme_mpath_revalidate_paths() and synchronize with the srcu, not the global RCU, in nvme_ns_remove(). Observed the following panic when making NVMe/RDMA connections with native multipath on the Rocky Linux 8.6 kernel (it seems the upst

iommu/vt-d: Fix PCI device refcount leak in dmar_dev_scope_init()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/vt-d: Fix PCI device refcount leak in dmar_dev_scope_init() for_each_pci_dev() is implemented by pci_get_device(). The comment of pci_get_device() says that it will increase the reference count for the returned pci_dev and also decrease the reference count for the input pci_dev @from if it is not NULL. If we break for_each_pci_dev() loop with pdev not NULL, we need to call pci_dev_put() to decrease the reference count. Add the missing pci_dev_put() for the error path to avoid reference count leak.

riscv: fix race when vmap stack overflow

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: riscv: fix race when vmap stack overflow Currently, when detecting vmap stack overflow, riscv firstly switches to the so called shadow stack, then use this shadow stack to call the get_overflow_stack() to get the overflow stack. However, there's a race here if two or more harts use the same shadow stack at the same time. To solve this race, we introduce spin_shadow_stack atomic var, which will be swap between its own address and 0 in atomic way, when the var is set, it means the shadow_stack is being used; when the var is cleared, it means the shadow_stack isn't being used

mm/khugepaged: invoke MMU notifiers in shmem/file collapse paths

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/khugepaged: invoke MMU notifiers in shmem/file collapse paths Any codepath that zaps page table entries must invoke MMU notifiers to ensure that secondary MMUs (like KVM) don't keep accessing pages which aren't mapped anymore. Secondary MMUs don't hold their own references to pages that are mirrored over, so failing to notify them can lead to page use-after-free. I'm marking this as addressing an issue introduced in commit f3f0e1d2150b ("khugepaged: add support of collapse for tmpfs/shmem pages"), but most of the security impact of this only came in commit 27e1f8273113

memcg: fix possible use-after-free in memcg_write_event_control()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: memcg: fix possible use-after-free in memcg_write_event_control() memcg_write_event_control() accesses the dentry->d_name of the specified control fd to route the write call. As a cgroup interface file can't be renamed, it's safe to access d_name as long as the specified file is a regular cgroup file. Also, as these cgroup interface files can't be removed before the directory, it's safe to access the parent too. Prior to 347c4a874710 ("memcg: remove cgroup_event->cft"), there was a call to __file_cft() which verified that the specified file is a regular cgroupfs file bef

But that assumed that userspace would correctly fill in the front porch, backporch and sync values, but sometimes all you know is the total blanking, which is then assigned to just one of these fields. And that can fail with these checks. So instead set a maximum for the total horizontal and vertical blanking and check that each field remains below that. That is stil

If the other thread (for example, from busy_poll) sets it to a value >= budget, this thread will continue to run when it should stop, and cause memory corruption and panic. To fix this issue, save the per-CQ work_done variable in a local variable before napi_complete_done(), so it won't be corrupted by a possible concurrent thread after napi_complete_done(). Also
