Prior to 4.33.0 of ApostropheCMS and 3.7.0 of the import-export module, import routes invoke bigUploadMiddleware without an early authorize callback, allowing unauthenticated requests to perform upload initialization, chunk storage, temporary processing, and attacker-declared cleanup work before the later user check rejects the import. This issue is fixed in ApostropheCMS 4.33.0 and import-export 3.7.0.

ApostropheCMS: No Attempt Throttling on Authenticated Password-Change Endpoint Enables Unlimited Current-Password Guessing

Prior to 4.33.0, the self-service password-change endpoint verifies the current password but does not use the login module’s failed-attempt counter, throttle, delay, or lockout mechanism. An attacker with a valid authenticated session can submit repeated guesses for the current password without receiving a lockout or throttle response. This issue is fixed in version 4.33.0.

A client that obtains and redeems a still-valid, unconsumed token before its first use can adopt the associated session, including through the passport-bridge cross-locale flow. An unauthenticated caller can therefore query this route for any document _id and learn whether the document exists and which locales it is published in — a document-existence and locale-metadata disclosure that the read-API is otherwise supposed to gate. This issue is fixed in version 4.33.0.

The parser accepts the special __proto__, constructor, and prototype path keys, allowing browser prototype mutation that can reach an unsafe DOM sink and execute script in the victim's session; anonymous visitors do not load the affected admin context. This issue is fixed in version 4.33.0.

ApostropheCMS: Unauthenticated CSV import requests leave rejected uploads in the system temporary directory

ApostropheCMS is an open-source Node.js content management system. Prior to 4.33.0, the unauthenticated Rich Text CSV conversion route writes a multipart upload to the system temporary directory before checking its extension and does not remove the staged file when that validation rejects it. Repeated large rejected uploads, using the normal public CSRF cookie, can persistently consume temporary-disk capacity and may disrupt ApostropheCMS and other services that depend on the same partition. This issue is fixed in version 4.33.0.

Prior to 4.33.0, an authenticated editor with legitimate edit rights on a pre-existing ordinary page nested under a restricted parent can use the same-parent page move operation to change sibling ranks without create authorization on that parent. The non-default nesting must already exist, and the bypass is limited to sibling ordering rather than arbitrary content modification, confidentiality loss, or creation of the restricted nesting. This issue is fixed in version 4.33.0.

Prior to 4.34.0, a project-defined free-form widget style field can carry an editor-controlled quote into an inline style attribute because the wrapper serializer does not apply HTML-attribute encoding. The quote can terminate the style attribute and inject executable attributes when published content, or an affected draft viewed by a higher-privileged user, is rendered. ApostropheCMS: Color field validation bypass allows stored XSS via HTML appended after rgb()/hsl() prefix

ApostropheCMS is an open-source Node.js content management system. Prior to 4.34.0, the color field accepts trailing content after a valid rgb() or hsl() prefix because its TinyColor validation does not require the entire value to match a color. An authenticated user with edit rights can store arbitrary HTML after a valid color prefix. When the stored value is rendered, the payload executes, resulting in stored XSS. This issue is fixed in version 4.34.0.

ApostropheCMS is an open-source Node.js content management system. Prior to 4.32.0, the page module's move() operation fails to enforce the destination parent's _create permission because its oldParent archive condition disables the check for ordinary moves, allowing an authenticated editor or contributor to use _targetId and _position through the page REST update endpoint to move a controlled page into a restricted subtree and make nudgeNewPeers() updateMany re-rank protected sibling pages. This issue is fixed in version 4.32.0.
