ALSA: timer: Fix UAF at snd_timer_user_params()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: timer: Fix UAF at snd_timer_user_params() At releasing a timer object, e.g. when a userspace timer (CONFIG_SND_UTIMER) gets closed and snd_timer_free() is called, it tries to detach the timer instances and release the resources. However, it's still possible that other in-flight tasks are holding the timer instance where the to-be-deleted timer object is associated, and this may lead to racy accesses. Fortunately, most of ioctls dealing with the timer instance list already have the protection with register_mutex, and this also avoids such races. But, SNDRV_TIMER_IOCT

    batman-adv: v: stop OGMv2 on disabled interface

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: batman-adv: v: stop OGMv2 on disabled interface When a batadv_hard_iface is disabled, its mesh_iface pointer is set to NULL. However, batadv_v_ogm_send_meshif() may still dispatch OGMs via batadv_v_ogm_queue_on_if() for interfaces that have since lost their mesh_iface association. This results in a NULL pointer dereference when batadv_v_ogm_queue_on_if() unconditionally calls netdev_priv() on the now NULL hard_iface->mesh_iface to retrieve the batadv_priv. It is necessary to ensure that the batadv_v_ogm_queue_on_if() checks that it is using the same mesh_iface for which ba

KVM: arm64: Fix pin leak and publication ordering in __pkvm_init_vcpu()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: arm64: Fix pin leak and publication ordering in __pkvm_init_vcpu() Two bugs exist in the vCPU initialisation path: 1. If a check fails after hyp_pin_shared_mem() succeeds, the cleanup path jumps to 'unlock' without calling unpin_host_vcpu() or unpin_host_sve_state(), permanently leaking pin references on the host vCPU and SVE state pages. Extract a register_hyp_vcpu() helper that performs the checks and the store. When register_hyp_vcpu() returns an error, call unpin_host_vcpu() and unpin_host_sve_state() inline before falling through to the exis

xen/privcmd: fix double free via VMA splitting

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xen/privcmd: fix double free via VMA splitting privcmd_vm_ops defines .close (privcmd_close), but neither .may_split nor .open. When userspace does a partial munmap() on a privcmd mapping, the kernel splits the VMA via __split_vma(). Since may_split is NULL, the split is allowed. vm_area_dup() copies vm_private_data (a pages array allocated in alloc_empty_pages()) into the new VMA without any fixup, because there is no .open callback. Both VMAs now point to the same pages array. When the unmapped portion is closed, privcmd_close() calls: - xen_unmap_domain_gfn_range()

The first causes a buffer overflow as sprintf in buildid_show will read and copy till it finds a NUL. 00000000 f4 91 51 f4 dd 38 9e 9d 65 47 52 eb 10 71 db 50 |..Q..8..eGR..q.P| 00000010 b9 a8 01 42 6f 2e 32 |...Bo.2| 00000017 So use a memcpy instead of sprintf to have the correct value: 00000000 f4 91 51 f4 dd 00 9e 9d 65 47 52 eb 10 71 db 50 |..Q.....eGR..q.P| 00000010 b9 a8 01 42

    Nfs-utils: rpc.mountd in the nfs-utils privilege escalation

A vulnerability was recently discovered in the rpc.mountd daemon in the nfs-utils package for Linux, that allows a NFSv3 client to escalate the privileges assigned to it in the /etc/exports file at mount time. In particular, it allows the client to access any subdirectory or subtree of an exported directory, regardless of the set file permissions, and regardless of any 'root_squash' or 'all_squash' attributes that would normally be expected to apply to that client.

Kernel: secure boot does not automatically enable kernel lockdown

The Linux Kernel lockdown mode for kernel versions starting on 6.12 and above for Fedora Linux has the lockdown mode disabled without any warning. This may allow an attacker to gain access to sensitive information such kernel memory mappings, I/O ports, BPF and kprobes. Additionally unsigned modules can be loaded, leading to execution of untrusted code breaking breaking any Secure Boot protection. This vulnerability affects only Fedora Linux.

wifi: brcmfmac: Fix potential shift-out-of-bounds in brcmf_fw_alloc_request()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: brcmfmac: Fix potential shift-out-of-bounds in brcmf_fw_alloc_request() This patch fixes a shift-out-of-bounds in brcmfmac that occurs in BIT(chiprev) when a 'chiprev' provided by the device is too large. It should also not be equal to or greater than BITS_PER_TYPE(u32) as we do bitwise AND with a u32 variable and BIT(chiprev). The patch adds a check that makes the function return NULL if that is the case. Note that the NULL case is later handled by the bus-specific caller, brcmf_usb_probe_cb() or brcmf_usb_reset_resume(), for example. Found by a modified version of

x86: fix clear_user_rep_good() exception handling annotation

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86: fix clear_user_rep_good() exception handling annotation This code no longer exists in mainline, because it was removed in commit d2c95f9d6802 ("x86: don't use REP_GOOD or ERMS for user memory clearing") upstream. However, rather than backport the full range of x86 memory clearing and copying cleanups, fix the exception table annotation placement for the final 'rep movsb' in clear_user_rep_good(): rather than pointing at the actual instruction that did the user space access, it pointed to the register move just before it. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: android: binder: stop saving a pointer to the VMA Do not record a pointer to a VMA outside of the mmap_lock for later use. This is unsafe and there are a number of failure paths *after* the recorded VMA pointer may be freed during setup. There is no callback to the driver to clear the saved pointer from generic mm code. Furthermore, the VMA pointer may become stale if any number of VMA operations end up freeing the VMA so saving it was fragile to being with. Instead, change the binder_alloc struct to record the start address of the VMA and use vma_lookup() to get the vm

    btrfs: replace BTRFS_MAX_EXTENT_SIZE with fs_info->max_extent_size

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: replace BTRFS_MAX_EXTENT_SIZE with fs_info->max_extent_size On zoned filesystem, data write out is limited by max_zone_append_size, and a large ordered extent is split according the size of a bio. OTOH, the number of extents to be written is calculated using BTRFS_MAX_EXTENT_SIZE, and that estimated number is used to reserve the metadata bytes to update and/or create the metadata items. The metadata reservation is done at e.g, btrfs_buffered_write() and then released according to the estimation changes. Thus, if the number of extent increases massively, the reserved

tty: n_gsm: add sanity check for gsm->receive in gsm_receive_buf()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: n_gsm: add sanity check for gsm->receive in gsm_receive_buf() A null pointer dereference can happen when attempting to access the "gsm->receive()" function in gsmld_receive_buf(). Currently, the code assumes that gsm->recieve is only called after MUX activation. Since the gsmld_receive_buf() function can be accessed without the need to initialize the MUX, the gsm->receive() function will not be set and a NULL pointer dereference will occur. Fix this by avoiding the call to "gsm->receive()" in case the function is not initialized by adding a sanity check. Call Trace:
