Filament: Multi-factor authentication (app) management actions do not require password reauthentication

Filament is a collection of full-stack components for accelerated Laravel development. From 4.0.0 until 4.13.3 and 5.8.3, app-based multi-factor authentication management actions do not consistently require confirmation of the current password. An attacker with access to an authenticated user session can set up app-based MFA and obtain recovery codes, or disable app-based MFA and regenerate recovery codes by supplying an existing app code or recovery code, without knowing the account password. Email-based MFA is not affected, and the issue does not independently permit an unauthenticated sign-in, but changing the app-MFA configuration may loc

Filament: Password validity disclosure for accounts denied panel access on login page

Filament is a collection of full-stack components for accelerated Laravel development. From 4.0.0 until 4.12.5 and 5.7.5, packages/panels/src/Auth/Pages/Login.php presents the multi-factor authentication challenge before evaluating canAccessPanel(). For an account that canAccessPanel() denies, submitting the correct password renders the MFA challenge while an incorrect password returns the generic authentication failure, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to confirm whether a candidate password is valid for that account. When email-based MFA is configured, the correct-password path also sends a login code to the account holder. The issue ap

Filament: Multi-factor authentication (app) codes can still be used after a newer code has been used

Filament is a collection of full-stack components for accelerated Laravel development. From 4.0.0 until 4.12.6 and 5.7.6, packages/panels/src/Auth/MultiFactor/App/AppAuthentication.php uses AppAuthentication::verifyCode() with a used-code cache key derived from both the app authentication secret and the submitted TOTP code. This isolates the newest accepted timestep by code instead of by secret, allowing a previously issued app-based MFA code to be accepted after a newer code has already been used. Reuse of the exact same code was already prevented, but another code inside the accepted time window remained usable. An attacker who obtains the

Filament: App-based MFA can be bypassed when recovery codes are enabled

Filament is a collection of full-stack components for accelerated Laravel development. Prior to versions 4.12.0 and 5.7.0, incorrect challenge-form required-field handling allows app-based multi-factor authentication to be bypassed when recovery codes are enabled. Email-based multi-factor authentication is not affected. This issue is fixed in versions 4.12.0 and 5.7.0.

Filament: Unauthenticated temporary file upload on auth pages

Filament is a collection of full-stack components for accelerated Laravel development. From 3.0.0 until 3.3.52, 4.11.5, and 5.6.5, any schema can contain a file upload form field, so Filament applies Livewire's WithFileUploads trait to the Livewire component the schema is embedded in. However, some schemas, such as the panel login form, do not require file uploads, and exposing unauthenticated temporary file uploads on these components is not an acceptable risk. On these components, an unauthenticated attacker could upload arbitrary files to the application's temporary storage, which could be abused to exhaust disk space or inflate storage co

Filament: Timing-based user enumeration on login page

Filament is a collection of full-stack components for accelerated Laravel development. From 4.0.0 until 4.11.5 and 5.6.5, the login page has an observable timing discrepancy that allows unauthenticated attackers to enumerate registered email addresses. The impact is limited to disclosing whether an account exists for a given email. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.11.5 and 5.6.5.

Filament: Multi-factor authentication (app) recovery codes can still be used multiple times via concurrent submission

Filament is a collection of full-stack components for accelerated Laravel development. From 4.0.0 until 4.11.5 and 5.6.5, a flaw in the handling of recovery codes for app-based multi-factor authentication allows the same recovery code to be reused via concurrent submission. This issue does not affect email-based MFA. It also only applies when recovery codes are enabled. If an attacker gains access to both the user's password and their recovery codes, they get two authenticated sessions per recovery code burned instead of one, or more if they batch the parallel submissions wider, materially extending the attacker's window of access compared to

Filament's multi-factor authentication (app) recovery codes can be used multiple times

Filament is a collection of full-stack components for accelerated Laravel development. Versions 4.0.0 through 4.3.0 contain a flaw in the handling of recovery codes for app-based multi-factor authentication, allowing the same recovery code to be reused indefinitely. This issue does not affect email-based MFA. It also only applies when recovery codes are enabled. This issue is fixed in version 4.3.1.
