Tina: Code injection via unescaped Git branch name in generated client source

Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to 3.0.0, @tinacms/cli reads Git branch values from VERCEL_GIT_COMMIT_REF, GITHUB_BRANCH, or HEAD, incorporates the raw value into the API URL, and interpolates that URL into JavaScript string literals in packages/@tinacms/cli/src/next/codegen/index.ts and packages/@tinacms/cli/src/next/codegen/codegen/plugin.ts. A crafted Git-valid branch name containing a quote can terminate the generated string and inject an expression that executes when the generated client module is imported during a preview build. The injected code runs with the build process privileges and can read environment credent

Tina: Cross-origin `POST /media/upload/*` requests can write arbitrary files into the Tina dev server media root

Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to 2.5.2, the TinaCMS CLI package's Vite dev server packages/@tinacms/cli/src/next/vite/cors.ts origin callback returns false for a disallowed origin but does not reject the request, and packages/@tinacms/cli/src/next/vite/plugins.ts still routes POST /media/upload/* to mediaRouter.handlePost. The upload code in packages/@tinacms/cli/src/next/commands/dev-command/server/media.ts writes attacker-controlled multipart contents inside the configured media root. A remote attacker can cause a developer's browser to submit this state-changing request by inducing the developer to visit an attacker-c

@tinacms/cli: Remote Code Execution via Forestry migration — unsanitised __TINA_INTERNAL__ marker in user-controlled YAML labels

Tina is a headless content management system. @tinacms/cli versions prior to 2.4.3 contain a Remote Code Execution vulnerability in the Forestry-to-Tina migration command. The internal helper addVariablesToCode unquotes any value matching the marker "__TINA_INTERNAL__:::(.*?):::" inside the stringified collection JSON. User-supplied label and name fields from .forestry/**/*.yml are placed into that JSON without any sanitisation. An attacker who controls a Forestry-style project can therefore inject arbitrary JavaScript into the generated tina/templates.{ts,js} file. The injected code is written at module top level, so it executes the moment t

Arbitrary File Read via Disabled Vite Filesystem Restriction in TinaCMS CLI

Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to 2.1.8, the TinaCMS CLI dev server configures Vite with server.fs.strict: false, which disables Vite's built-in filesystem access restriction. This allows any unauthenticated attacker who can reach the dev server to read arbitrary files on the host system. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.8.

Path Traversal Leading to Arbitrary File Read, Write and Delete in TinaCMS

Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to 2.1.8, the TinaCMS CLI development server exposes media endpoints that are vulnerable to path traversal, allowing attackers to read and write arbitrary files on the filesystem outside the intended media directory. When running tinacms dev, the CLI starts a local HTTP server (default port 4001) exposing endpoints such as /media/list/*, /media/upload/*, and /media/*. These endpoints process user-controlled path segments using decodeURI() and path.join() without validating that the resolved path remains within the configured media directory. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.8.

Cross-Origin File Exfiltration via CORS Misconfiguration + Path Traversal in TinaCMS

Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to 2.1.8 , the TinaCMS CLI dev server combines a permissive CORS configuration (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *) with the path traversal vulnerability (previously reported) to enable a browser-based drive-by attack. A remote attacker can enumerate the filesystem, write arbitrary files, and delete arbitrary files on developer's machines by simply tricking them into visiting a malicious website while tinacms dev is running. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.8.

tinacms vulnerable to arbitrary code execution

Tina is a headless content management system. In tinacms prior to version 3.1.1, tinacms uses the gray-matter package in an insecure way allowing attackers that can control the content of the processed markdown files, e.g., blog posts, to execute arbitrary code. tinacms version 3.1.1, @tinacms/cli version 2.0.4, and @tinacms/graphql version 2.0.3 contain a fix for the issue.

Tina search token leak via lock file in TinaCMS

Tina is an open-source content management system (CMS). Sites building with Tina CMS's command line interface (CLI) prior to version 1.6.2 that use a search token may be vulnerable to the search token being leaked via lock file (tina-lock.json). Administrators of Tina-enabled websites with search setup should rotate their key immediately. This issue has been patched in @tinacms/cli version 1.6.2. Upgrading and rotating the search token is required for the proper fix.

Sensitive Information leak via Script File in TinaCMS

Tinacms is a Git-backed headless content management system with support for visual editing. Sites being built with @tinacms/cli >= 1.0.0 && < 1.0.9 which store sensitive values in the process.env variable are impacted. These values will be added in plaintext to the index.js file. If you're on a version prior to 1.0.0 this vulnerability does not affect you. If you are affected and your Tina-enabled website has sensitive credentials stored as environment variables (eg. Algolia API keys) you should rotate those keys immediately. This issue has been patched in @tinacms/[email protected]. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for th
