Pipecat: Public exposure of Pipecat’s development runner can allow unauthenticated bot session creation

Pipecat is an open-source Python framework for building real-time voice and multimodal conversational agents. From 0.0.98 until 1.6.0, the pipecat-ai package's built-in development runner exposes unauthenticated endpoints including /start, /daily, and /daily-dialin-webhook that can create bot sessions and Daily rooms. The runner binds to localhost by default and is intended only for local development, so exploitation requires an operator to expose it to untrusted traffic through --host 0.0.0.0, a published port, or a tunnel without access controls. An unauthenticated caller can consume local resources and third-party quotas and, depending on

Pipecat: Telephony WebSocket `/ws` Unauthenticated Call-Control Abuse via Attacker-Supplied Call SID

Pipecat is an open-source Python framework for building real-time voice and multimodal conversational agents. Prior to 1.4.0, the pipecat development runner registers a /ws WebSocket endpoint for telephony testing that accepts connections without authentication, reads an attacker-supplied callSid from a Twilio stream-start handshake in src/pipecat/runner/utils.py, and passes it to TwilioFrameSerializer so the server can issue an authenticated Twilio REST API hang-up request with the server operator's credentials; equivalent unauthenticated call-control sinks exist for Telnyx and Plivo. This issue is fixed in version 1.4.0.

Pipecat: Path Traversal in Pipecat Runner `/files` Endpoint — Arbitrary File Read via `%2F`-Encoded Separator

Pipecat is an open-source Python framework for building real-time voice and multimodal conversational agents. From version 0.0.90 to before version 1.2.0, a path traversal vulnerability exists in Pipecat's development runner (src/pipecat/runner/run.py). When the runner is started with the --folder flag, it exposes a GET /files/{filename:path} download endpoint. The filename path parameter is concatenated directly onto args.folder with no containment check. Starlette normalises literal ../ sequences in URLs, but %2F-encoded slashes bypass this normalisation: the path parameter is URL-decoded after routing, so ..%2F..%2Fetc%2Fpasswd resolves to

Pipecat vulnerable to Remote Code Execution by Pickle Deserialization via LivekitFrameSerializer

Pipecat is an open-source Python framework for building real-time voice and multimodal conversational agents. Versions 0.0.41 through 0.0.93 have a vulnerability in `LivekitFrameSerializer` – an optional, non-default, undocumented frame serializer class (now deprecated) intended for LiveKit integration. The class's `deserialize()` method uses Python's `pickle.loads()` on data received from WebSocket clients without any validation or sanitization. This means that a malicious WebSocket client can send a crafted pickle payload to execute arbitrary code on the Pipecat server. The vulnerable code resides in `src/pipecat/serializers/livekit.py` (ar
