  1. CVE-2020-1712

    Élevée · CVSS 7.8EPSS 0,46%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2020-1712

A heap use-after-free vulnerability was found in systemd before version v245-rc1, where asynchronous Polkit queries are performed while handling dbus messages. A local unprivileged attacker can abuse this flaw to crash systemd services or potentially execute code and elevate their privileges, by sending specially crafted dbus messages.

  2. CVE-2019-3842

    Moyenne · CVSS 4.5EPSS 1,21%Code d’exploitation publicCorrectif disponible

    CVE-2019-3842

In systemd before v242-rc4, it was discovered that pam_systemd does not properly sanitize the environment before using the XDG_SEAT variable. It is possible for an attacker, in some particular configurations, to set a XDG_SEAT environment variable which allows for commands to be checked against polkit policies using the "allow_active" element rather than "allow_any".

  3. CVE-2019-6454

    Moyenne · CVSS 5.5EPSS 2,04%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2019-6454

An issue was discovered in sd-bus in systemd 239. bus_process_object() in libsystemd/sd-bus/bus-objects.c allocates a variable-length stack buffer for temporarily storing the object path of incoming D-Bus messages. An unprivileged local user can exploit this by sending a specially crafted message to PID1, causing the stack pointer to jump over the stack guard pages into an unmapped memory region and trigger a denial of service (systemd PID1 crash and kernel panic).

  4. CVE-2018-16888

    Moyenne · CVSS 4.4EPSS 0,29%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2018-16888

It was discovered systemd does not correctly check the content of PIDFile files before using it to kill processes. When a service is run from an unprivileged user (e.g. User field set in the service file), a local attacker who is able to write to the PIDFile of the mentioned service may use this flaw to trick systemd into killing other services and/or privileged processes. Versions before v237 are vulnerable.

  5. CVE-2018-16865

    Élevée · CVSS 7.5EPSS 3,02%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2018-16865

An allocation of memory without limits, that could result in the stack clashing with another memory region, was discovered in systemd-journald when many entries are sent to the journal socket. A local attacker, or a remote one if systemd-journal-remote is used, may use this flaw to crash systemd-journald or execute code with journald privileges. Versions through v240 are vulnerable.

  6. CVE-2018-16864

    Élevée · CVSS 7.4EPSS 0,71%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2018-16864

An allocation of memory without limits, that could result in the stack clashing with another memory region, was discovered in systemd-journald when a program with long command line arguments calls syslog. A local attacker may use this flaw to crash systemd-journald or escalate his privileges. Versions through v240 are vulnerable.

  7. USN-3816-3

    Non évaluéeCorrectif disponible

    systemd regression

USN-3816-1 fixed vulnerabilities in systemd. The fix for CVE-2018-6954 caused a regression in systemd-tmpfiles when running Ubuntu inside a container on some older kernels. This issue only affected Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. In order to continue to support this configuration, the fixes for CVE-2018-6954 have been reverted. We apologize for the inconvenience. Original advisory details: Jann Horn discovered that unit_deserialize incorrectly handled status messages above a certain length. A local attacker could potentially exploit this via NotifyAccess to inject arbitrary state across re-execution and obtain root privileges. (CVE-2018-15686) Ja

  8. CVE-2018-15688

    Élevée · CVSS 8.8EPSS 1,67%Correctif disponible

    Out-of-Bounds write in systemd-networkd dhcpv6 option handling

A buffer overflow vulnerability in the dhcp6 client of systemd allows a malicious dhcp6 server to overwrite heap memory in systemd-networkd. Affected releases are systemd: versions up to and including 239.

    Élevée · CVSS 7.8EPSS 1,06%Code d’exploitation publicCorrectif disponible

    systemd: chown_one() can dereference symlinks

A race condition in chown_one() of systemd allows an attacker to cause systemd to set arbitrary permissions on arbitrary files. Affected releases are systemd versions up to and including 239.

    Élevée · CVSS 7EPSS 2,26%Code d’exploitation publicCorrectif disponible

systemd: reexec state injection: fgets() on overlong lines leads to line splitting

A vulnerability in unit_deserialize of systemd allows an attacker to supply arbitrary state across systemd re-execution via NotifyAccess. This can be used to improperly influence systemd execution and possibly lead to root privilege escalation. Affected releases are systemd versions up to and including 239.

  11. CVE-2018-1049

    Moyenne · CVSS 5.9EPSS 7,44%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2018-1049

In systemd prior to 234 a race condition exists between .mount and .automount units such that automount requests from kernel may not be serviced by systemd resulting in kernel holding the mountpoint and any processes that try to use said mount will hang. A race condition like this may lead to denial of service, until mount points are unmounted.

  12. CVE-2018-6954

    Élevée · CVSS 7.8EPSS 0,53%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2018-6954

systemd-tmpfiles in systemd through 237 mishandles symlinks present in non-terminal path components, which allows local users to obtain ownership of arbitrary files via vectors involving creation of a directory and a file under that directory, and later replacing that directory with a symlink. This occurs even if the fs.protected_symlinks sysctl is turned on.

  13. CVE-2017-15908

    Élevée · CVSS 7.5EPSS 23,63%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2017-15908

In systemd 223 through 235, a remote DNS server can respond with a custom crafted DNS NSEC resource record to trigger an infinite loop in the dns_packet_read_type_window() function of the 'systemd-resolved' service and cause a DoS of the affected service.

  14. CVE-2017-9445

    Élevée · CVSS 7.5EPSS 54,84%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2017-9445

In systemd through 233, certain sizes passed to dns_packet_new in systemd-resolved can cause it to allocate a buffer that's too small. A malicious DNS server can exploit this via a response with a specially crafted TCP payload to trick systemd-resolved into allocating a buffer that's too small, and subsequently write arbitrary data beyond the end of it.

  15. CVE-2016-7796

    Moyenne · CVSS 5.5EPSS 0,85%Correctif disponible

    CVE-2016-7796

The manager_dispatch_notify_fd function in systemd allows local users to cause a denial of service (system hang) via a zero-length message received over a notify socket, which causes an error to be returned and the notification handler to be disabled.
