  1. CVE-2026-92709

    High · CVSS 8.1EPSS 0.45%No fix published

Rsyslog: DynFile Path Traversal → Arbitrary File Write as Root → RCE

Rsyslog is a rocket-fast system for log processing. From versions 1.15.0 to 8.2610.0, rsyslog's omfile dynaFile facility intentionally allows templates to generate flexible output paths. This supports valid deployments that route logs into different directories or use dynamically generated file names. A deployment becomes unsafe when a dynaFile template uses a value influenced by untrusted input as a path component without explicit secure-path handling. In that configuration, the rendered path can escape the operator's intended log directory. This is not limited to the RFC5424 HOSTNAME field. Any untrusted value that reaches a dynaFile path c

  2. CVE-2026-61548

    High · CVSS 8.1EPSS 0.94%No fix published

Rsyslog: mmpstrucdata stack buffer overflow with oversized RFC5424 structured data

Rsyslog is a rocket-fast system for log processing. From 7.5.4 until 8.2606.0, the optional mmpstrucdata plugin's parseSD_PARAM function in plugins/mmpstrucdata/mmpstrucdata.c stores RFC5424 parameter values in a fixed pVal[32 * 1024] stack buffer and calls parsePARAM_VALUE without supplying the destination size. A remote unauthenticated attacker whose crafted RFC5424 message reaches an action using mmpstrucdata can provide a structured-data parameter larger than that buffer when MaxMessageSize permits it, causing an attacker-controlled stack overwrite. Deployments that do not install and use the plugin, or whose effective message-size limit

  3. CVE-2026-55556

    High · CVSS 8.2EPSS 0.85%No fix published

Rsyslog: Heap buffer overflow in imhttp plugin Basic Authentication handling

Rsyslog is a rocket-fast system for log processing. From 8.2110.0 until 8.2604.0, the optional imhttp module's parse_auth_header function in contrib/imhttp/imhttp.c allocates a zero-byte heap buffer with calloc(0, len) when an HTTP Basic Authorization value exceeds its fixed work buffer, then passes that pointer to apr_base64_decode. An unauthenticated remote attacker can send an oversized encoded credential to an imhttp endpoint configured for Basic Authentication, causing decoded data to overwrite adjacent heap memory before credential validation. Deployments that do not install, load, and use imhttp with Basic Authentication are not affect

    High · CVSS 7.5EPSS 0.82%No fix published

Rsyslog: rsyslog: denial of service via heap buffer overflow in rainerscript replace() function

A flaw was found in rsyslog. An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger a heap buffer overflow in the RainerScript `replace()` function by sending specially crafted syslog messages. This vulnerability arises from an incorrect buffer size calculation during string replacement, causing memory corruption. Successful exploitation can lead to a denial of service (DoS) for the affected system.

  5. CVE-2026-19654

    High · CVSS 7.5EPSS 0.56%No fix published

Rsyslog: a configuration-dependent issue in rsyslog's optional imptcp input module can allow an unauthenticated remote peer to crash rsyslogd

A unauthenticated remote peer may lead rsyslogd to crash due to a flaw in the optional imptcp module. A crafted input sequence during oversize-frame recovery can cause an invalid internal message length and terminate rsyslogd. No confidentiality or integrity impact, privilege escalation, or code execution has been identified. imtcp and the default imptcp framing modes are not affected.

  6. CVE-2022-24903

    High · CVSS 8.1EPSS 3.95%Fix available

Buffer overflow in TCP syslog server (receiver) components in rsyslog

Rsyslog is a rocket-fast system for log processing. Modules for TCP syslog reception have a potential heap buffer overflow when octet-counted framing is used. This can result in a segfault or some other malfunction. As of our understanding, this vulnerability can not be used for remote code execution. But there may still be a slight chance for experts to do that. The bug occurs when the octet count is read. While there is a check for the maximum number of octets, digits are written to a heap buffer even when the octet count is over the maximum, This can be used to overrun the memory buffer. However, once the sequence of digits stop, no additi

  7. CVE-2011-1490

    Medium · CVSS 5.5EPSS 0.38%Fix available

    CVE-2011-1490

A memory leak in rsyslog before 5.7.6 was found in the way deamon processed log messages are logged when multiple rulesets were used and some output batches contained messages belonging to more than one ruleset. A local attacker could cause denial of the rsyslogd daemon service via a log message belonging to more than one ruleset

    CVE-2011-1488

A memory leak in rsyslog before 5.7.6 was found in the way deamon processed log messages are logged when $RepeatedMsgReduction was enabled. A local attacker could use this flaw to cause a denial of the rsyslogd daemon service by crashing the service via a sequence of repeated log messages sent within short periods of time.

  10. CVE-2019-17042

    Critical · CVSS 9.8EPSS 2.98%Fix available

    CVE-2019-17042

An issue was discovered in Rsyslog v8.1908.0. contrib/pmcisconames/pmcisconames.c has a heap overflow in the parser for Cisco log messages. The parser tries to locate a log message delimiter (in this case, a space or a colon), but fails to account for strings that do not satisfy this constraint. If the string does not match, then the variable lenMsg will reach the value zero and will skip the sanity check that detects invalid log messages. The message will then be considered valid, and the parser will eat up the nonexistent colon delimiter. In doing so, it will decrement lenMsg, a signed integer, whose value was zero and now becomes minus one
