    nilfs2: fix hang in nilfs_lookup_dirty_data_buffers()

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix hang in nilfs_lookup_dirty_data_buffers() Syzbot reported a hang issue in migrate_pages_batch() called by mbind() and nilfs_lookup_dirty_data_buffers() called in the log writer of nilfs2. While migrate_pages_batch() locks a folio and waits for the writeback to complete, the log writer thread that should bring the writeback to completion picks up the folio being written back in nilfs_lookup_dirty_data_buffers() that it calls for subsequent log creation and was trying to lock the folio. Thus causing a deadlock. In the first place, it is unexpected that folios/p

    ceph: prevent use-after-free in encode_cap_msg()

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ceph: prevent use-after-free in encode_cap_msg() In fs/ceph/caps.c, in encode_cap_msg(), "use after free" error was caught by KASAN at this line - 'ceph_buffer_get(arg->xattr_buf);'. This implies before the refcount could be increment here, it was freed. In same file, in "handle_cap_grant()" refcount is decremented by this line - 'ceph_buffer_put(ci->i_xattrs.blob);'. It appears that a race occurred and resource was freed by the latter line before the former line could increment it. encode_cap_msg() is called by __send_cap() and __send_cap() is called by ceph_check_caps()

    fs,hugetlb: fix NULL pointer dereference in hugetlbs_fill_super

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs,hugetlb: fix NULL pointer dereference in hugetlbs_fill_super When configuring a hugetlb filesystem via the fsconfig() syscall, there is a possible NULL dereference in hugetlbfs_fill_super() caused by assigning NULL to ctx->hstate in hugetlbfs_parse_param() when the requested pagesize is non valid. E.g: Taking the following steps: fd = fsopen("hugetlbfs", FSOPEN_CLOEXEC); fsconfig(fd, FSCONFIG_SET_STRING, "pagesize", "1024", 0); fsconfig(fd, FSCONFIG_CMD_CREATE, NULL, NULL, 0); Given that the requested "pagesize" is invalid, ctxt->hstate will be replaced

    xen/events: close evtchn after mapping cleanup

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xen/events: close evtchn after mapping cleanup shutdown_pirq and startup_pirq are not taking the irq_mapping_update_lock because they can't due to lock inversion. Both are called with the irq_desc->lock being taking. The lock order, however, is first irq_mapping_update_lock and then irq_desc->lock. This opens multiple races: - shutdown_pirq can be interrupted by a function that allocates an event channel: CPU0 CPU1 shutdown_pirq { xen_evtchn_close(e) __startup_pirq { EVTCHNOP_bi

    nilfs2: fix potential bug in end_buffer_async_write

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix potential bug in end_buffer_async_write According to a syzbot report, end_buffer_async_write(), which handles the completion of block device writes, may detect abnormal condition of the buffer async_write flag and cause a BUG_ON failure when using nilfs2. Nilfs2 itself does not use end_buffer_async_write(). But, the async_write flag is now used as a marker by commit 7f42ec394156 ("nilfs2: fix issue with race condition of competition between segments for dirty blocks") as a means of resolving double list insertion of dirty blocks in nilfs_lookup_dirty_data_buff

    KVM: s390: vsie: fix race during shadow creation

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: s390: vsie: fix race during shadow creation Right now it is possible to see gmap->private being zero in kvm_s390_vsie_gmap_notifier resulting in a crash. This is due to the fact that we add gmap->private == kvm after creation: static int acquire_gmap_shadow(struct kvm_vcpu *vcpu, struct vsie_page *vsie_page) { [...] gmap = gmap_shadow(vcpu->arch.gmap, asce, edat); if (IS_ERR(gmap)) return PTR_ERR(gmap); gmap->private = vcpu->kvm; Let children inherit the private field of the parent.

    can: j1939: prevent deadlock by changing j1939_socks_lock to rwlock

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: j1939: prevent deadlock by changing j1939_socks_lock to rwlock The following 3 locks would race against each other, causing the deadlock situation in the Syzbot bug report: - j1939_socks_lock - active_session_list_lock - sk_session_queue_lock A reasonable fix is to change j1939_socks_lock to an rwlock, since in the rare situations where a write lock is required for the linked list that j1939_socks_lock is protecting, the code does not attempt to acquire any more locks. This would break the circular lock dependency, where, for example, the current thread already locks

    um: time-travel: fix time corruption

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: um: time-travel: fix time corruption In 'basic' time-travel mode (without =inf-cpu or =ext), we still get timer interrupts. These can happen at arbitrary points in time, i.e. while in timer_read(), which pushes time forward just a little bit. Then, if we happen to get the interrupt after calculating the new time to push to, but before actually finishing that, the interrupt will set the time to a value that's incompatible with the forward, and we'll crash because time goes backwards when we do the forwarding. Fix this by reading the time_travel_time, calculating the adjustm

    net/sched: flower: Fix chain template offload

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: flower: Fix chain template offload When a qdisc is deleted from a net device the stack instructs the underlying driver to remove its flow offload callback from the associated filter block using the 'FLOW_BLOCK_UNBIND' command. The stack then continues to replay the removal of the filters in the block for this driver by iterating over the chains in the block and invoking the 'reoffload' operation of the classifier being used. In turn, the classifier in its 'reoffload' operation prepares and emits a 'FLOW_CLS_DESTROY' command for each filter. However, the stack do
