    ntfs: fix use-after-free in ntfs_attr_find()

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: fix use-after-free in ntfs_attr_find() Patch series "ntfs: fix bugs about Attribute", v2. This patchset fixes three bugs relative to Attribute in record: Patch 1 adds a sanity check to ensure that, attrs_offset field in first mft record loading from disk is within bounds. Patch 2 moves the ATTR_RECORD's bounds checking earlier, to avoid dereferencing ATTR_RECORD before checking this ATTR_RECORD is within bounds. Patch 3 adds an overflow checking to avoid possible forever loop in ntfs_attr_find(). Without patch 1 and patch 2, the kernel triggersa KASAN use-after-f

    ntfs: check overflow when iterating ATTR_RECORDs

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ntfs: check overflow when iterating ATTR_RECORDs Kernel iterates over ATTR_RECORDs in mft record in ntfs_attr_find(). Because the ATTR_RECORDs are next to each other, kernel can get the next ATTR_RECORD from end address of current ATTR_RECORD, through current ATTR_RECORD length field. The problem is that during iteration, when kernel calculates the end address of current ATTR_RECORD, kernel may trigger an integer overflow bug in executing `a = (ATTR_RECORD*)((u8*)a + le32_to_cpu(a->length))`. This may wrap, leading to a forever iteration on 32bit systems. This patch sol

    iscsi_ibft: Fix UBSAN shift-out-of-bounds warning in ibft_attr_show_nic()

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iscsi_ibft: Fix UBSAN shift-out-of-bounds warning in ibft_attr_show_nic() When performing an iSCSI boot using IPv6, iscsistart still reads the /sys/firmware/ibft/ethernetX/subnet-mask entry. Since the IPv6 prefix length is 64, this causes the shift exponent to become negative, triggering a UBSAN warning. As the concept of a subnet mask does not apply to IPv6, the value is set to ~0 to suppress the warning message.

    net_sched: Prevent creation of classes with TC_H_ROOT

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net_sched: Prevent creation of classes with TC_H_ROOT The function qdisc_tree_reduce_backlog() uses TC_H_ROOT as a termination condition when traversing up the qdisc tree to update parent backlog counters. However, if a class is created with classid TC_H_ROOT, the traversal terminates prematurely at this class instead of reaching the actual root qdisc, causing parent statistics to be incorrectly maintained. In case of DRR, this could lead to a crash as reported by Mingi Cho. Prevent the creation of any Qdisc class with classid TC_H_ROOT (0xFFFFFFFF) across all qdisc types,

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bus: mhi: host: pci_generic: Use pci_try_reset_function() to avoid deadlock There are multiple places from where the recovery work gets scheduled asynchronously. Also, there are multiple places where the caller waits synchronously for the recovery to be completed. One such place is during the PM shutdown() callback. If the device is not alive during recovery_work, it will try to reset the device using pci_reset_function(). This function internally will take the device_lock() first before resetting the device. By this time, if the lock has already been acquired, then recove

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drivers: virt: acrn: hsm: Use kzalloc to avoid info leak in pmcmd_ioctl In the "pmcmd_ioctl" function, three memory objects allocated by kmalloc are initialized by "hcall_get_cpu_state", which are then copied to user space. The initializer is indeed implemented in "acrn_hypercall2" (arch/x86/include/asm/acrn.h). There is a risk of information leakage due to uninitialized bytes.

    gpio: aggregator: protect driver attr handlers against module unload

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpio: aggregator: protect driver attr handlers against module unload Both new_device_store and delete_device_store touch module global resources (e.g. gpio_aggregator_lock). To prevent race conditions with module unload, a reference needs to be held. Add try_module_get() in these handlers. For new_device_store, this eliminates what appears to be the most dangerous scenario: if an id is allocated from gpio_aggregator_idr but platform_device_register has not yet been called or completed, a concurrent module unload could fail to unregister/delete the device, leaving behind a

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: intel-ish-hid: Fix use-after-free issue in ishtp_hid_remove() The system can experience a random crash a few minutes after the driver is removed. This issue occurs due to improper handling of memory freeing in the ishtp_hid_remove() function. The function currently frees the `driver_data` directly within the loop that destroys the HID devices, which can lead to accessing freed memory. Specifically, `hid_destroy_device()` uses `driver_data` when it calls `hid_ishtp_set_feature()` to power off the sensor, so freeing `driver_data` beforehand can result in accessing inval

    llc: do not use skb_get() before dev_queue_xmit()

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: llc: do not use skb_get() before dev_queue_xmit() syzbot is able to crash hosts [1], using llc and devices not supporting IFF_TX_SKB_SHARING. In this case, e1000 driver calls eth_skb_pad(), while the skb is shared. Simply replace skb_get() by skb_clone() in net/llc/llc_s_ac.c Note that e1000 driver might have an issue with pktgen, because it does not clear IFF_TX_SKB_SHARING, this is an orthogonal change. We need to audit other skb_get() uses in net/llc. [1] kernel BUG at net/core/skbuff.c:2178 ! Oops: invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN NOPTI CPU: 0 UID: 0 PI

    vlan: enforce underlying device type

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vlan: enforce underlying device type Currently, VLAN devices can be created on top of non-ethernet devices. Besides the fact that it doesn't make much sense, this also causes a bug which leaks the address of a kernel function to usermode. When creating a VLAN device, we initialize GARP (garp_init_applicant) and MRP (mrp_init_applicant) for the underlying device. As part of the initialization process, we add the multicast address of each applicant to the underlying device, by calling dev_mc_add. __dev_mc_add uses dev->addr_len to determine the length of the new multicast

    sched/fair: Fix potential memory corruption in child_cfs_rq_on_list

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sched/fair: Fix potential memory corruption in child_cfs_rq_on_list child_cfs_rq_on_list attempts to convert a 'prev' pointer to a cfs_rq. This 'prev' pointer can originate from struct rq's leaf_cfs_rq_list, making the conversion invalid and potentially leading to memory corruption. Depending on the relative positions of leaf_cfs_rq_list and the task group (tg) pointer within the struct, this can cause a memory fault or access garbage data. The issue arises in list_add_leaf_cfs_rq, where both cfs_rq->leaf_cfs_rq_list and rq->leaf_cfs_rq_list are added to the same leaf list

    In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: atm: cxacru: fix a flaw in existing endpoint checks Syzbot once again identified a flaw in usb endpoint checking, see [1]. This time the issue stems from a commit authored by me (2eabb655a968 ("usb: atm: cxacru: fix endpoint checking in cxacru_bind()")). While using usb_find_common_endpoints() may usually be enough to discard devices with wrong endpoints, in this case one needs more than just finding and identifying the sufficient number of endpoints of correct types - one needs to check the endpoint's address as well.
