fs/ntfs3: Enhance sanity check while generating attr_list

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/ntfs3: Enhance sanity check while generating attr_list ni_create_attr_list uses WARN_ON to catch error cases while generating attribute list, which only prints out stack trace and may not be enough. This repalces them with more proper error handling flow. powerpc: Don't try to copy PPR for task with NULL pt_regs

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc: Don't try to copy PPR for task with NULL pt_regs powerpc sets up PF_KTHREAD and PF_IO_WORKER with a NULL pt_regs, which from my (arguably very short) checking is not commonly done for other archs. This is fine, except when PF_IO_WORKER's have been created and the task does something that causes a coredump to be generated. Then we get this crash: Kernel attempted to read user page (160) - exploit attempt? drm/msm/mdp5: Don't leak some plane state

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/msm/mdp5: Don't leak some plane state Apparently no one noticed that mdp5 plane states leak like a sieve ever since we introduced plane_state->commit refcount a few years ago in 21a01abbe32a ("drm/atomic: Fix freeing connector/plane state too early by tracking commits, v3.") Fix it by using the right helpers. Patchwork: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/551236/

scsi: qla2xxx: Wait for io return on terminate rport

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: qla2xxx: Wait for io return on terminate rport System crash due to use after free. Current code allows terminate_rport_io to exit before making sure all IOs has returned. For FCP-2 device, IO's can hang on in HW because driver has not tear down the session in FW at first sign of cable pull. When dev_loss_tmo timer pops, terminate_rport_io is called and upper layer is about to free various resources. Terminate_rport_io trigger qla to do the final cleanup, but the cleanup might not be fast enough where it leave qla still holding on to the same resource. Wait for IO's t

    wifi: mac80211_hwsim: drop short frames

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211_hwsim: drop short frames While technically some control frames like ACK are shorter and end after Address 1, such frames shouldn't be forwarded through wmediumd or similar userspace, so require the full 3-address header to avoid accessing invalid memory if shorter frames are passed in.

drm/msm/dp: Free resources after unregistering them

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/msm/dp: Free resources after unregistering them The DP component's unbind operation walks through the submodules to unregister and clean things up. But if the unbind happens because the DP controller itself is being removed, all the memory for those submodules has just been freed. Change the order of these operations to avoid the many use-after-free that otherwise happens in this code path. Patchwork: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/542166/

wifi: ath11k: Fix SKB corruption in REO destination ring

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: Fix SKB corruption in REO destination ring While running traffics for a long time, randomly an RX descriptor filled with value "0" from REO destination ring is received. This descriptor which is invalid causes the wrong SKB (SKB stored in the IDR lookup with buffer id "0") to be fetched which in turn causes SKB memory corruption issue and the same leads to crash after some time. Changed the start id for idr allocation to "1" and the buffer id "0" is reserved for error validation. Introduced Sanity check to validate the descriptor, before processing the SKB.

fbdev/ep93xx-fb: Do not assign to struct fb_info.dev

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fbdev/ep93xx-fb: Do not assign to struct fb_info.dev Do not assing the Linux device to struct fb_info.dev. The call to register_framebuffer() initializes the field to the fbdev device. Drivers should not override its value. Fixes a bug where the driver incorrectly decreases the hardware device's reference counter and leaks the fbdev device. v2: * add Fixes tag (Dan)

nilfs2: fix use-after-free of nilfs_root in dirtying inodes via iput

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix use-after-free of nilfs_root in dirtying inodes via iput During unmount process of nilfs2, nothing holds nilfs_root structure after nilfs2 detaches its writer in nilfs_detach_log_writer(). Previously, nilfs_evict_inode() could cause use-after-free read for nilfs_root if inodes are left in "garbage_list" and released by nilfs_dispose_list at the end of nilfs_detach_log_writer(), and this bug was fixed by commit 9b5a04ac3ad9 ("nilfs2: fix use-after-free bug of nilfs_root in nilfs_evict_inode()"). However, it turned out that there is another possibility of UAF in

net: fec: Better handle pm_runtime_get() failing in .remove()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: fec: Better handle pm_runtime_get() failing in .remove() In the (unlikely) event that pm_runtime_get() (disguised as pm_runtime_resume_and_get()) fails, the remove callback returned an error early. The problem with this is that the driver core ignores the error value and continues removing the device. This results in a resource leak. Worse the devm allocated resources are freed and so if a callback of the driver is called later the register mapping is already gone which probably results in a crash.

rbd: avoid use-after-free in do_rbd_add() when rbd_dev_create() fails

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rbd: avoid use-after-free in do_rbd_add() when rbd_dev_create() fails If getting an ID or setting up a work queue in rbd_dev_create() fails, use-after-free on rbd_dev->rbd_client, rbd_dev->spec and rbd_dev->opts is triggered in do_rbd_add(). The root cause is that the ownership of these structures is transfered to rbd_dev prematurely and they all end up getting freed when rbd_dev_create() calls rbd_dev_free() prior to returning to do_rbd_add(). Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE, an incomplete patch submitted by Natalia Petrova <n.petrova@fin

netfilter: nft_set_rbtree: fix overlap expiration walk

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nft_set_rbtree: fix overlap expiration walk The lazy gc on insert that should remove timed-out entries fails to release the other half of the interval, if any. Can be reproduced with tests/shell/testcases/sets/0044interval_overlap_0 in nftables.git and kmemleak enabled kernel. Second bug is the use of rbe_prev vs. prev pointer. If rbe_prev() returns NULL after at least one iteration, rbe_prev points to element that is not an end interval, hence it should not be removed. Lastly, check the genmask of the end interval if this is active in the current generation.

Fix this by calling put_device(), so that name can be freed in callback function kobject_cleanup(). unreferenced object 0xffff00c01aba2100 (size 128): comm "systemd-udevd", pid 1259, jiffies 4294903284 (age 294.152s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 68 6e 61 65 30 00 00 00 18 21 ba 1a c0 00 ff ff hnae0....!...... 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
