  1. CVE-2025-12781

    Medium · CVSS 6.3EPSS 0.56%No fix published

base64.b64decode() always accepts "+/" characters, despite setting altchars

When passing data to the b64decode(), standard_b64decode(), and urlsafe_b64decode() functions in the "base64" module the characters "+/" will always be accepted, regardless of the value of "altchars" parameter, typically used to establish an "alternative base64 alphabet" such as the URL safe alphabet. This behavior matches what is recommended in earlier base64 RFCs, but newer RFCs now recommend either dropping characters outside the specified base64 alphabet or raising an error. The old behavior has the possibility of causing data integrity issues. This behavior can only be insecure if your application uses an alternate base64 alphabet (w

    python2.7 regresssions

USN-7015-5 fixed vulnerabilities in python2.7. The update introduced several minor regressions. This update fixes the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience. Original advisory details: It was discovered that the Python email module incorrectly parsed email addresses that contain special characters. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to bypass certain protection mechanisms. (CVE-2023-27043) It was discovered that Python allowed excessive backtracking while parsing certain tarfile headers. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause Python to consume resources, leading to a denial of service. (CVE-202

  3. CVE-2023-40217

    Medium · CVSS 5.3EPSS 0.8%Fix available

    CVE-2023-40217

An issue was discovered in Python before 3.8.18, 3.9.x before 3.9.18, 3.10.x before 3.10.13, and 3.11.x before 3.11.5. It primarily affects servers (such as HTTP servers) that use TLS client authentication. If a TLS server-side socket is created, receives data into the socket buffer, and then is closed quickly, there is a brief window where the SSLSocket instance will detect the socket as "not connected" and won't initiate a handshake, but buffered data will still be readable from the socket buffer. This data will not be authenticated if the server-side TLS peer is expecting client certificate authentication, and is indistinguishable from val

  4. CVE-2020-10735

    Medium · CVSS 6.2EPSS 4.49%No fix published

    CVE-2020-10735

A flaw was found in python. In algorithms with quadratic time complexity using non-binary bases, when using int("text"), a system could take 50ms to parse an int string with 100,000 digits and 5s for 1,000,000 digits (float, decimal, int.from_bytes(), and int() for binary bases 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 are not affected). The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.

  5. CVE-2015-20107

    High · CVSS 7.8EPSS 2.78%Fix available

    CVE-2015-20107

In Python (aka CPython) up to 3.10.8, the mailcap module does not add escape characters into commands discovered in the system mailcap file. This may allow attackers to inject shell commands into applications that call mailcap.findmatch with untrusted input (if they lack validation of user-provided filenames or arguments). The fix is also back-ported to 3.7, 3.8, 3.9

  6. CVE-2021-23336

    Medium · CVSS 5.9EPSS 40.74%No fix published

    Web Cache Poisoning

The package python/cpython from 0 and before 3.6.13, from 3.7.0 and before 3.7.10, from 3.8.0 and before 3.8.8, from 3.9.0 and before 3.9.2 are vulnerable to Web Cache Poisoning via urllib.parse.parse_qsl and urllib.parse.parse_qs by using a vector called parameter cloaking. When the attacker can separate query parameters using a semicolon (;), they can cause a difference in the interpretation of the request between the proxy (running with default configuration) and the server. This can result in malicious requests being cached as completely safe ones, as the proxy would usually not see the semicolon as a separator, and therefore would not in

  7. CVE-2017-18207

    Medium · CVSS 6.5EPSS 1.32%No fix published

    CVE-2017-18207

The Wave_read._read_fmt_chunk function in Lib/wave.py in Python through 3.6.4 does not ensure a nonzero channel value, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero and exception) via a crafted wav format audio file. NOTE: the vendor disputes this issue because Python applications "need to be prepared to handle a wide variety of exceptions.
