xfs: add bounds checking to xlog_recover_process_data

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: add bounds checking to xlog_recover_process_data There is a lack of verification of the space occupied by fixed members of xlog_op_header in the xlog_recover_process_data. We can create a crafted image to trigger an out of bounds read by following these steps: 1) Mount an image of xfs, and do some file operations to leave records 2) Before umounting, copy the image for subsequent steps to simulate abnormal exit. Because umount will ensure that tail_blk and head_blk are the same, which will result in the inability to enter xlog_recover_proc

xfs: don't walk off the end of a directory data block

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: don't walk off the end of a directory data block This adds sanity checks for xfs_dir2_data_unused and xfs_dir2_data_entry to make sure don't stray beyond valid memory region. Before patching, the loop simply checks that the start offset of the dup and dep is within the range. So in a crafted image, if last entry is xfs_dir2_data_unused, we can change dup->length to dup->length-1 and leave 1 byte of space. In the next traversal, this space will be considered as dup or dep. We may encounter an out of bound read when accessing the fixed members. In the patch, we make sur

filelock: Remove locks reliably when fcntl/close race is detected

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: filelock: Remove locks reliably when fcntl/close race is detected When fcntl_setlk() races with close(), it removes the created lock with do_lock_file_wait(). However, LSMs can allow the first do_lock_file_wait() that created the lock while denying the second do_lock_file_wait() that tries to remove the lock. Separately, posix_lock_file() could also fail to remove a lock due to GFP_KERNEL allocation failure (when splitting a range in the middle). After the bug has been triggered, use-after-free reads will occur in lock_get_status() when userspace reads /proc/locks. This ca

mISDN: Fix memory leak in dsp_pipeline_build()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mISDN: Fix memory leak in dsp_pipeline_build() dsp_pipeline_build() allocates dup pointer by kstrdup(cfg), but then it updates dup variable by strsep(&dup, "|"). As a result when it calls kfree(dup), the dup variable contains NULL. Found by Linux Driver Verification project (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFC: port100: fix use-after-free in port100_send_complete Syzbot reported UAF in port100_send_complete(). The root case is in missing usb_kill_urb() calls on error handling path of ->probe function. port100_send_complete() accesses devm allocated memory which will be freed on probe failure. Reinstate some of "swiotlb: rework "fix info leak with DMA_FROM_DEVICE""

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: swiotlb: fix info leak with DMA_FROM_DEVICE The problem I'm addressing was discovered by the LTP test covering cve-2018-1000204. A short description of what happens follows: 1) The test case issues a command code 00 (TEST UNIT READY) via the SG_IO interface with: dxfer_len == 524288, dxdfer_dir == SG_DXFER_FROM_DEV and a corresponding dxferp. The peculiar thing about this is that TUR is not reading from the device. 2) In sg_start_req() the invocation of blk_rq_map_user() effectively bounces the user-space buffer. As if the device was to transfer into it. Sin

NFSD: Fix NFSv3 SETATTR/CREATE's handling of large file sizes

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSD: Fix NFSv3 SETATTR/CREATE's handling of large file sizes iattr::ia_size is a loff_t, so these NFSv3 procedures must be careful to deal with incoming client size values that are larger than s64_max without corrupting the value. Silently capping the value results in storing a different value than the client passed in which is unexpected behavior, so remove the min_t() check in decode_sattr3(). Note that RFC 1813 permits only the WRITE procedure to return NFS3ERR_FBIG. We believe that NFSv3 reference implementations also return NFS3ERR_FBIG when ia_size is too large.

    NFSD: Fix ia_size underflow

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSD: Fix ia_size underflow iattr::ia_size is a loff_t, which is a signed 64-bit type. NFSv3 and NFSv4 both define file size as an unsigned 64-bit type. Thus there is a range of valid file size values an NFS client can send that is already larger than Linux can handle. Currently decode_fattr4() dumps a full u64 value into ia_size. If that value happens to be larger than S64_MAX, then ia_size underflows. I'm about to fix up the NFSv3 behavior as well, so let's catch the underflow in the common code path: nfsd_setattr().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: dsa: mv88e6xxx: don't use devres for mdiobus As explained in commits: 74b6d7d13307 ("net: dsa: realtek: register the MDIO bus under devres") 5135e96a3dd2 ("net: dsa: don't allocate the slave_mii_bus using devres") mdiobus_free() will panic when called from devm_mdiobus_free() <- devres_release_all() <- __device_release_driver(), and that mdiobus was not previously unregistered. The mv88e6xxx is an MDIO device, so the initial set of constraints that I thought would cause this (I2C or SPI buses which call ->remove on ->shutdown) do not apply. But there is one more whic

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: usb: ax88179_178a: Fix out-of-bounds accesses in RX fixup ax88179_rx_fixup() contains several out-of-bounds accesses that can be triggered by a malicious (or defective) USB device, in particular: - The metadata array (hdr_off..hdr_off+2*pkt_cnt) can be out of bounds, causing OOB reads and (on big-endian systems) OOB endianness flips. - A packet can overlap the metadata array, causing a later OOB endianness flip to corrupt data used by a cloned SKB that has already been handed off into the network stack. - A packet SKB can be constructed whose tail is far b

scsi: pm8001: Fix use-after-free for aborted TMF sas_task

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: pm8001: Fix use-after-free for aborted TMF sas_task Currently a use-after-free may occur if a TMF sas_task is aborted before we handle the IO completion in mpi_ssp_completion(). The abort occurs due to timeout. When the timeout occurs, the SAS_TASK_STATE_ABORTED flag is set and the sas_task is freed in pm8001_exec_internal_tmf_task(). However, if the I/O completion occurs later, the I/O completion still thinks that the sas_task is available. Fix this by clearing the ccb->task if the TMF times out - the I/O completion handler does nothing if this pointer is cleared.
