In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: isofs: validate Rock Ridge CE continuation extent against volume size rock_continue() reads rs->cont_extent verbatim from the Rock Ridge CE record and passes it to sb_bread() without checking that the block number is within the mounted ISO 9660 volume. commit e595447e177b ("[PATCH] rock.c: handle corrupted directories") added cont_offset and cont_size rejection for the CE continuation but did not validate the extent block number itself. commit f54e18f1b831 ("isofs: Fix infinite looping over CE entries") later capped the CE chain length at RR_MAX_CE_ENTRIES = 32 but again

selinux: allow multiple opens of /sys/fs/selinux/policy

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: selinux: allow multiple opens of /sys/fs/selinux/policy Currently there can only be a single open of /sys/fs/selinux/policy at any time. This allows any process to block any other process from reading the kernel policy. The original motivation seems to have been a mix of preventing an inconsistent view of the policy size and preventing userspace from allocating kernel memory without bound, but this is arguably equally bad. Eliminate the policy_opened flag and shrink the critical section that the policy mutex is held. While we are making changes here, drop a couple of extran

hfsplus: fix held lock freed on hfsplus_fill_super()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hfsplus: fix held lock freed on hfsplus_fill_super() hfsplus_fill_super() calls hfs_find_init() to initialize a search structure, which acquires tree->tree_lock. If the subsequent call to hfsplus_cat_build_key() fails, the function jumps to the out_put_root error label without releasing the lock. The later cleanup path then frees the tree data structure with the lock still held, triggering a held lock freed warning. Fix this by adding the missing hfs_find_exit(&fd) call before jumping to the out_put_root error label. This ensures that tree->tree_lock is properly released o

dm: fix a buffer overflow in ioctl processing

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm: fix a buffer overflow in ioctl processing Tony Asleson (using Claude) found a buffer overflow in dm-ioctl in the function retrieve_status: 1. The code in retrieve_status checks that the output string fits into the output buffer and writes the output string there 2. Then, the code aligns the "outptr" variable to the next 8-byte boundary: outptr = align_ptr(outptr); 3. The alignment doesn't check overflow, so outptr could point past the buffer end 4. The "for" loop is iterated again, it executes: remaining = len - (outptr - outbuf); 5. If "outptr" points past

pmdomain: core: Fix detach procedure for virtual devices in genpd

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pmdomain: core: Fix detach procedure for virtual devices in genpd If a device is attached to a PM domain through genpd_dev_pm_attach_by_id(), genpd calls pm_runtime_enable() for the corresponding virtual device that it registers. While this avoids boilerplate code in drivers, there is no corresponding call to pm_runtime_disable() in genpd_dev_pm_detach(). This means these virtual devices are typically detached from its genpd, while runtime PM remains enabled for them, which is not how things are designed to work. In worst cases it may lead to critical errors, like a NULL p

    mtd: docg3: fix use-after-free in docg3_release()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mtd: docg3: fix use-after-free in docg3_release() In docg3_release(), the docg3 pointer is obtained from cascade->floors[0]->priv before the loop that calls doc_release_device() on each floor. doc_release_device() frees the docg3 struct via kfree(docg3) at line 1881. After the loop, docg3->cascade->bch dereferences the already-freed pointer. Fix this by accessing cascade->bch directly, which is equivalent since docg3->cascade points back to the same cascade struct, and is already available as a local variable. This also removes the now-unused docg3 local variable.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: lib: test_hmm: evict device pages on file close to avoid use-after-free Patch series "Minor hmm_test fixes and cleanups". Two bugfixes a cleanup for the HMM kernel selftests. These were mostly reported by Zenghui Yu with special thanks to Lorenzo for analysing and pointing out the problems. This patch (of 3): When dmirror_fops_release() is called it frees the dmirror struct but doesn't migrate device private pages back to system memory first. This leaves those pages with a dangling zone_device_data pointer to the freed dmirror. If a subsequent fault occurs on those p

Bluetooth: hci_uart: fix UAFs and race conditions in close and init paths

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_uart: fix UAFs and race conditions in close and init paths Vulnerabilities leading to Use-After-Free (UAF) and Null Pointer Dereference (NPD) conditions were observed in the lifecycle management of hci_uart. The primary issue arises because the workqueues (init_ready and write_work) are only flushed/cancelled if the HCI_UART_PROTO_READY flag is set during TTY close. If a hangup occurs before setup completes, hci_uart_tty_close() skips the teardown of these workqueues and proceeds to free the `hu` struct. When the scheduled work executes later, it blindly der

io-wq: check that the predecessor is hashed in io_wq_remove_pending()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: io-wq: check that the predecessor is hashed in io_wq_remove_pending() io_wq_remove_pending() needs to fix up wq->hash_tail[] if the cancelled work was the tail of its hash bucket. When doing this, it checks whether the preceding entry in acct->work_list has the same hash value, but never checks that the predecessor is hashed at all. io_get_work_hash() is simply atomic_read(&work->flags) >> IO_WQ_HASH_SHIFT, and the hash bits are never set for non-hashed work, so it returns 0. Thus, when a hashed bucket-0 work is cancelled while a non-hashed work is its list predecessor, the

drm/vkms: Convert to DRM's vblank timer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/vkms: Convert to DRM's vblank timer Replace vkms' vblank timer with the DRM implementation. The DRM code is identical in concept, but differs in implementation. Vblank timers are covered in vblank helpers and initializer macros, so remove the corresponding hrtimer in struct vkms_output. The vblank timer calls vkms' custom timeout code via handle_vblank_timeout in struct drm_crtc_helper_funcs.

ibmveth: Disable GSO for packets with small MSS

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ibmveth: Disable GSO for packets with small MSS Some physical adapters on Power systems do not support segmentation offload when the MSS is less than 224 bytes. Attempting to send such packets causes the adapter to freeze, stopping all traffic until manually reset. Implement ndo_features_check to disable GSO for packets with small MSS values. The network stack will perform software segmentation instead. The 224-byte minimum matches ibmvnic commit <f10b09ef687f> ("ibmvnic: Enforce stronger sanity checks on GSO packets") which uses the same physical adapters in SEA configur

This means that during removal, there is a race condition where an interrupt can fire just _after_ the `power_supply` handle has been freed, *but* just _before_ the corresponding unregistration of the IRQ handler has

nfc: hci: shdlc: Stop timers and work before freeing context

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfc: hci: shdlc: Stop timers and work before freeing context llc_shdlc_deinit() purges SHDLC skb queues and frees the llc_shdlc structure while its timers and state machine work may still be active. Timer callbacks can schedule sm_work, and sm_work accesses SHDLC state and the skb queues. If teardown happens in parallel with a queued/running work item, it can lead to UAF and other shutdown races. Stop all SHDLC timers and cancel sm_work synchronously before purging the queues and freeing the context. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.
