btrfs: qgroup: fix race between quota disable and quota rescan ioctl

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: qgroup: fix race between quota disable and quota rescan ioctl There's a race between a task disabling quotas and another running the rescan ioctl that can result in a use-after-free of qgroup records from the fs_info->qgroup_tree rbtree. This happens as follows: 1) Task A enters btrfs_ioctl_quota_rescan() -> btrfs_qgroup_rescan(); 2) Task B enters btrfs_quota_disable() and calls btrfs_qgroup_wait_for_completion(), which does nothing because at that point fs_info->qgroup_rescan_running is false (it wasn't set yet by task A); 3) Task B calls btrfs_free_qgr

ALSA: usb-audio: Validate UAC3 cluster segment descriptors

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: usb-audio: Validate UAC3 cluster segment descriptors UAC3 class segment descriptors need to be verified whether their sizes match with the declared lengths and whether they fit with the allocated buffer sizes, too. Otherwise malicious firmware may lead to the unexpected OOB accesses.

fs: Prevent file descriptor table allocations exceeding INT_MAX

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs: Prevent file descriptor table allocations exceeding INT_MAX When sysctl_nr_open is set to a very high value (for example, 1073741816 as set by systemd), processes attempting to use file descriptors near the limit can trigger massive memory allocation attempts that exceed INT_MAX, resulting in a WARNING in mm/slub.c: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 44 at mm/slub.c:5027 __kvmalloc_node_noprof+0x21a/0x288 This happens because kvmalloc_array() and kvmalloc() check if the requested size exceeds INT_MAX and emit a warning when the allocation is not flagged with __GFP_NOWARN. ARM: rockchip: fix kernel hang during smp initialization

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ARM: rockchip: fix kernel hang during smp initialization In order to bring up secondary CPUs main CPU write trampoline code to SRAM. The trampoline code is written while secondary CPUs are powered on (at least that true for RK3188 CPU). Sometimes that leads to kernel hang. Probably because secondary CPU execute trampoline code while kernel doesn't expect. The patch moves SRAM initialization step to the point where all secondary CPUs are powered down. That fixes rarely hangs on RK3188: [ 0.091568] CPU0: thread -1, cpu 0, socket 0, mpidr 80000000 [ 0.091996] rockchip_

rcu: Protect ->defer_qs_iw_pending from data race

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rcu: Protect ->defer_qs_iw_pending from data race On kernels built with CONFIG_IRQ_WORK=y, when rcu_read_unlock() is invoked within an interrupts-disabled region of code [1], it will invoke rcu_read_unlock_special(), which uses an irq-work handler to force the system to notice when the RCU read-side critical section actually ends. That end won't happen until interrupts are enabled at the soonest. In some kernels, such as those booted with rcutree.use_softirq=y, the irq-work handler is used unconditionally. The per-CPU rcu_data structure's ->defer_qs_iw_pending field is up

bpf: Forget ranges when refining tnum after JSET

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Forget ranges when refining tnum after JSET Syzbot reported a kernel warning due to a range invariant violation on the following BPF program. 0: call bpf_get_netns_cookie 1: if r0 == 0 goto <exit> 2: if r0 & Oxffffffff goto <exit> The issue is on the path where we fall through both jumps. That path is unreachable at runtime: after insn 1, we know r0 != 0, but with the sign extension on the jset, we would only fallthrough insn 2 if r0 == 0. Unfortunately, is_branch_taken() isn't currently able to figure this out, so the verifier walks all branches. The verifier

rcu: Fix rcu_read_unlock() deadloop due to IRQ work

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rcu: Fix rcu_read_unlock() deadloop due to IRQ work During rcu_read_unlock_special(), if this happens during irq_exit(), we can lockup if an IPI is issued. This is because the IPI itself triggers the irq_exit() path causing a recursive lock up. This is precisely what Xiongfeng found when invoking a BPF program on the trace_tick_stop() tracepoint As shown in the trace below. Fix by managing the irq_work state correctly. irq_exit() __irq_exit_rcu() /* in_hardirq() returns false after this */ preempt_count_sub(HARDIRQ_OFFSET) tick_irq_exit() tick_nohz_irq

jfs: truncate good inode pages when hard link is 0

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: jfs: truncate good inode pages when hard link is 0 The fileset value of the inode copy from the disk by the reproducer is AGGR_RESERVED_I. When executing evict, its hard link number is 0, so its inode pages are not truncated. This causes the bugon to be triggered when executing clear_inode() because nrpages is greater than 0.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA: hfi1: fix possible divide-by-zero in find_hw_thread_mask() The function divides number of online CPUs by num_core_siblings, and later checks the divider by zero. This implies a possibility to get and divide-by-zero runtime error. Fix it by moving the check prior to division. This also helps to save one indentation level.

mm/kmemleak: avoid deadlock by moving pr_warn() outside kmemleak_lock

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/kmemleak: avoid deadlock by moving pr_warn() outside kmemleak_lock When netpoll is enabled, calling pr_warn_once() while holding kmemleak_lock in mem_pool_alloc() can cause a deadlock due to lock inversion with the netconsole subsystem. This occurs because pr_warn_once() may trigger netpoll, which eventually leads to __alloc_skb() and back into kmemleak code, attempting to reacquire kmemleak_lock. This is the path for the deadlock. mem_pool_alloc() -> raw_spin_lock_irqsave(&kmemleak_lock, flags); -> pr_warn_once() -> netconsole subsystem -> net

    x86/vmscape: Add conditional IBPB mitigation

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/vmscape: Add conditional IBPB mitigation VMSCAPE is a vulnerability that exploits insufficient branch predictor isolation between a guest and a userspace hypervisor (like QEMU). Existing mitigations already protect kernel/KVM from a malicious guest. Userspace can additionally be protected by flushing the branch predictors after a VMexit. Since it is the userspace that consumes the poisoned branch predictors, conditionally issue an IBPB after a VMexit and before returning to userspace. Workloads that frequently switch between hypervisor and userspace will incur the most

s390/ism: fix concurrency management in ism_cmd()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/ism: fix concurrency management in ism_cmd() The s390x ISM device data sheet clearly states that only one request-response sequence is allowable per ISM function at any point in time. Unfortunately as of today the s390/ism driver in Linux does not honor that requirement. This patch aims to rectify that. This problem was discovered based on Aliaksei's bug report which states that for certain workloads the ISM functions end up entering error state (with PEC 2 as seen from the logs) after a while and as a consequence connections handled by the respective function break,

serial: 8250: fix panic due to PSLVERR

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: serial: 8250: fix panic due to PSLVERR When the PSLVERR_RESP_EN parameter is set to 1, the device generates an error response if an attempt is made to read an empty RBR (Receive Buffer Register) while the FIFO is enabled. In serial8250_do_startup(), calling serial_port_out(port, UART_LCR, UART_LCR_WLEN8) triggers dw8250_check_lcr(), which invokes dw8250_force_idle() and serial8250_clear_and_reinit_fifos(). The latter function enables the FIFO via serial_out(p, UART_FCR, p->fcr). Execution proceeds to the serial_port_in(port, UART_RX). This satisfies the PSLVERR trigger con

parisc: Revise __get_user() to probe user read access

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: parisc: Revise __get_user() to probe user read access Because of the way read access support is implemented, read access interruptions are only triggered at privilege levels 2 and 3. The kernel executes at privilege level 0, so __get_user() never triggers a read access interruption (code 26). Thus, it is currently possible for user code to access a read protected address via a system call. Fix this by probing read access rights at privilege level 3 (PRIV_USER) and setting __gu_err to -EFAULT (-14) if access isn't allowed. Note the cmpiclr instruction does a 32-bit compare

Changing from NTSC to PAL increases the resolution in the usbtv struct, but the video plane buffer isn't adjusted, so it overflows. [hverkuil: call vb2_is_busy instead of vb2_is_streaming]
