Go JOSE: DoS when parsing JWKs that contain RSA keys

Go JOSE provides an implementation of the Javascript Object Signing and Encryption set of standards in Go, including support for JSON Web Encryption (JWE), JSON Web Signature (JWS), and JSON Web Token (JWT) standards. Prior to 4.1.6, go-jose parses attacker-controlled RSA modulus and prime values from JWKs without enforcing size and consistency bounds before passing them to crypto/rsa.PrivateKey.Validate. On Go 1.24 and later, crafted large or degenerate RSA parameters can make that validation consume cubic CPU time, allowing remote denial of service in applications that parse JWKs from untrusted sources. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.6.

Go JOSE: Panics in JSON parsing

Go JOSE provides an implementation of the Javascript Object Signing and Encryption set of standards in Go, including support for JSON Web Encryption (JWE), JSON Web Signature (JWS), and JSON Web Token (JWT) standards. Prior to 4.1.5, parsing attacker-controlled JSON through go-jose allows deeply nested arrays or objects to exceed Go's stack limit. The resulting stack overflow crashes the application and permits denial of service in applications that parse untrusted JSON through go-jose. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.5.

  3. CVE-2026-116585

    Medium · CVSS 6.9EPSS 0.26%No fix published

Go JOSE: Panic during CBC-HMAC processing

Go JOSE provides an implementation of the Javascript Object Signing and Encryption set of standards in Go, including support for JSON Web Encryption (JWE), JSON Web Signature (JWS), and JSON Web Token (JWT) standards. Prior to 4.1.5, decrypting untrusted JWE ciphertext with A128CBC-HS256, A192CBC-HS384, or A256CBC-HS512 can pass an empty ciphertext buffer to CBC-HMAC unpadding. Insufficient validation allows the empty buffer to be indexed, causing a panic and denial of service. Applications that decrypt attacker-controlled ciphertext with one of these content-encryption algorithms are affected. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.5.

    High · CVSS 7.5EPSS 0.65%No fix published

Go JOSE affect by a panic in JWE decryption

Go JOSE provides an implementation of the Javascript Object Signing and Encryption set of standards in Go, including support for JSON Web Encryption (JWE), JSON Web Signature (JWS), and JSON Web Token (JWT) standards. Prior to 4.1.4 and 3.0.5, decrypting a JSON Web Encryption (JWE) object will panic if the alg field indicates a key wrapping algorithm (one ending in KW, with the exception of A128GCMKW, A192GCMKW, and A256GCMKW) and the encrypted_key field is empty. The panic happens when cipher.KeyUnwrap() in key_wrap.go attempts to allocate a slice with a zero or negative length based on the length of the encrypted_key. This code path is reac

  5. CVE-2016-9122

    High · CVSS 7.5EPSS 1.97%Fix available

    CVE-2016-9122

go-jose before 1.0.4 suffers from multiple signatures exploitation. The go-jose library supports messages with multiple signatures. However, when validating a signed message the API did not indicate which signature was valid, which could potentially lead to confusion. For example, users of the library might mistakenly read protected header values from an attached signature that was different from the one originally validated.

  6. CVE-2016-9121

    Critical · CVSS 9.1EPSS 1.41%Fix available

    CVE-2016-9121

go-jose before 1.0.4 suffers from an invalid curve attack for the ECDH-ES algorithm. When deriving a shared key using ECDH-ES for an encrypted message, go-jose neglected to check that the received public key on a message is on the same curve as the static private key of the receiver, thus making it vulnerable to an invalid curve attack.
