TinaCMS admin preview iframe loads an attacker-controlled origin from the URL fragment

Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to tinacms 3.14.0 and @tinacms/app 2.5.14, the /~/* admin preview route in packages/tinacms/src/admin/index.tsx can turn an attacker-controlled hash-router splat into an off-origin iframe URL through packages/@tinacms/app/src/preview.tsx, while packages/@tinacms/app/src/lib/preview-origin.ts derives expectedOrigin from that same URL for the GraphQL message channel in packages/@tinacms/app/src/lib/graphql-reducer.ts. An unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted link to a signed-in editor, cause the admin to frame an attacker origin, and have that frame treated as the trusted preview. The at

TinaCMS: Cross-origin postMessage handlers and rich-text URL-sanitization bypass enable stored XSS and session takeover

Tina is a headless content management system. In versions prior to @tinacms/app 2.5.6 and tinacms 3.9.3, cross-origin postMessage handlers and a rich-text URL-sanitization bypass enable stored XSS and session takeover. The library registers window message listeners — the useTina overlay handler, the OAuth authentication popup handler, and the admin↔preview iframe GraphQL reducer — that act on event.data without verifying event.origin or event.source and post messages using non-specific target origins, while insufficient URL sanitization in rich-text content allows malicious URLs to persist and execute. A page the victim visits (or a window in

    Medium · CVSS 4.8EPSS 0.4%Fix available

TinaCMS rich-text (slatejson) rendering does not sanitize link/image URLs, allowing stored XSS via dangerous URL schemes

Tina is a headless content management system. In versions prior to @tinacms/mdx 2.1.7 and tinacms 3.9.3, rich-text parsing and the default link/image renderers did not sanitize the url field on Slate link/image nodes. Content containing javascript: or data:text/html URLs — including case-variant, whitespace-padded, and control-character-obfuscated forms — is rendered into href/src and executes when the content is viewed. Any actor able to author rich-text content (for example a lower-privileged editor, or imported/external content) can achieve stored XSS against editors and site viewers. This issue is fixed in versions @tinacms/mdx 2.1.7 an

    High · CVSS 7.4EPSS 0.34%Fix available

Path Traversal in Media Upload Handle in Tina

Tina is a headless content management system. Prior to 2.1.7, a path traversal vulnerability exists in the TinaCMS development server's media upload handler. The code at media.ts joins user-controlled path segments using path.join() without validating that the resulting path stays within the intended media directory. This allows writing files to arbitrary locations on the filesystem. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.7.

  5. CVE-2025-68278

    High · CVSS 7.3EPSS 0.48%Fix available

tinacms vulnerable to arbitrary code execution

Tina is a headless content management system. In tinacms prior to version 3.1.1, tinacms uses the gray-matter package in an insecure way allowing attackers that can control the content of the processed markdown files, e.g., blog posts, to execute arbitrary code. tinacms version 3.1.1, @tinacms/cli version 2.0.4, and @tinacms/graphql version 2.0.3 contain a fix for the issue.
